Antitrust issues warning to Pyaterochka to cut prices in Kalmykia
MOSCOW, Sep 27 (PRIME) -- The Federal Antimonopoly Service’s office in the republic of Kalmykia has issued a warning to Russian retail chain Pyaterochka, part of X5 Group, about the need to cut food prices in the region, the service said in a statement on Monday.
"The Kalmykia's Administration of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has sent a warning to company Agrotorg (retail chain Pyaterochka) about the need to stop unjustified overpricing of food products. The term of warning fulfillment amounts to 10 days since the moment of receipt. The administration is holding the situation under a special control," the antitrust said.
The authority said that the carrot and cabbage prices in the outlets of the chain were higher in the Chernozemelsky District where the retailer has the dominant market position than in the capital of the republic Elista, where it doesn’t have such a position.
